| Strip Canoes are some of the most beautiful boats in the world. At Crystal Canoe we provide classes on strip canoe building throughout the year. The schedule is developed around the builder's timeline. It is possible for a student to complete their canoe in three months ( a little more labor intensive than a fly rod) and have it on the water within a week. Our best time to complete a sea-worthy canoe in the shop has been 9 days. These canoes are without a doubt something that will last a lifetime and bring hours of conversation from admirers where ever they go. All materials and tools are available to build the canoes, however, the student does not keep the canoe when it is finished, however, they can purchase it if they wish. To give you an idea of why the canoe is not included you need only look at the prices for strip canoes on the www. The canoes we build start at $3,500 and go up to $12,000 when they are customized. The cost of the class is very reasonable and the education and skills learned will provide the student with the baseline knowledge he or she will need to go into business making more canoes. We also provide follow-up advice and expertise to help students, after they have completed the class, for free.
